Trust in You - Meditation with Mothers Nature: by Jenni Madison.

Knowing and trusting in something that is bigger than us, and having the humility to receive and be guided from within, is one of the greatest blessings we can give to our selves. It really does allow us to give life the fullness, the appreciation and the meaning it deserves.

Meditation is often referred to as a tool to relax and calm the mind. As much as I agree that this is true, I also believe that the real purpose of meditation is to consciously connect. To connect with that part of our selves and our universe that is sacred and divine. Within the depth of this connection, we are free from the usual thought patterns, daily concerns and emotional triggers that take us away from the present moment.

It is only in the present moment that we have power. That is the peace, calm, and clarity that allow us to dance to our own rhythm, and trust in the beautiful flow of life.

Meditation allows your intentions to be received by your subconscious, which is where manifestation actually occurs. By giving yourself the time and the space to meditate, you are creating an awareness and depth that touches your soul very deep. Then when you come back into action and creation mode, life can be in flow as the blessings continue to appear.

Meditation

To begin your meditation, sit comfortably with your back straight, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Relax as you feel the life force of this breath enter inside of you and then release. Continue to breathe gently in this way and invoke the Presence of the Divine. This is a time to be present, ask, receive and trust. It is a time to relish your relationship with yourself, and with what you refer to as your divine. Feel and appreciate the presence that surrounds you, and that is now within you.

I choose to meditate on the following three intentions as I believe they lead toward freedom and harmony, and that is our personal and collective well being. This is also the essence that covers everything I could possibly desire.

1. Self Love ~ self love is our only true protection form the shadow of self and others. I ask that I can love myself so deeply that I do not burden or project this need onto others, and that I can give and receive love generously in my relationships. With self love I can accept life with grace and take nothing personally. I then imagine energy flowing in through my crown chakra and out through my heart. I hold my heart energy and appreciate the love that I am.

2. Radiant Health ~ with great health we can have it all. I trust and am grateful that my body restores itself naturally to perfect health. If I am feeling any pain or discomfort in any area of my body I imagine the sacred energy flowing toward this area as it is healing.

3. Abundance ~ I enjoy abundance as a feeling of inner fulfilment and joy. Here I ask that all of my material needs are met and that I need for nothing. I trust and allow in the will of heaven as I open my palms up to receive the beauty of this world.

I then ask for others to also receive the blessings of the above three intentions.

Time in meditation is amazing, it is the essence of being alive. You really can do this anywhere and at any time, all it requires is your presence and your intent. This sacred space is paradoxically personal and universal.

Mother Natures Magic
Pure essential oils such as frankinsense and sandlewood ignite your awareness into being grounded and present in the moment. This is helpful for meditation with intent. The healing power of pure coconut oil nurtures your connection to mother nature. By massaging pure coconut oil gently onto your body, around your forehead and temples, you are nourishing and nurturing your well being. This allows a calm and connected space for deep meditation to occur.

With love and blessings,

Relaxing Over the Festive Season: by Clayfield Counselling.

What do you find relaxing? Perhaps it is the idea of a good book, fishing, going for a walk, listening to music or watching movies. But when do we get the chance to enjoy things that we find relaxing and soothing. Over the Christmas break, many people will experience stress and perhaps some high level of excitement, depending on the festive activities. For many people, after a break they feel more exhausted, and say they need a holiday from a holiday. The important thing to remember is to take 30 minutes a days and dedicate it totally to relaxing. How often do we find ourselves wanting to relax, for instance watching a movie, but instead of sitting down and enjoying ourselves, we need to feel busy, instead we watch TV and do the ironing at the same time. This is not relaxation; this is an inability to relax. Yes life is busy, but life is what you make it and is one more hour going to make the ironing pile appear less monstrous.

What makes people so stressed over the Christmas break?

The main contributor to increased stress over the festive season is family; Christmas for many people means "family gatherings" which for some is one of the most daunting experiences of the year. This year, instead of focusing on getting everything perfect, just focus on making sure you and your family enjoy yourselves. If you find, the stress is starting to wear you down, here are some ways to help you relax.

Some ways to help you relax:

" Deep breathing - breathe in through the nose and let the air fill the bottom of your lungs first, breathe right down to your stomach, then breathe out slowly, concentrating on letting the muscles of your body relax.
" Focused breathing - breathe in through the nose and as you breathe out say a positive statement to yourself like relax or calm down.
" Stretching - stretch out muscles, reach the arms above the head and stretch, or just stretch whatever part of the body you feel needs it.
" Visualisation - this is where you picture a pleasant place and use slow breathing through the nose - you can make the place anywhere you want to and you can change anything in the picture to see, feel, hear or smell just as you wish.

Unlock The Power of Your Mind: by Tony Grant of Mind Therapy Brisbane.

Whatever your expectations of hypnotherapy, unless you have already enjoyed your own natural ability to take control of your feelings, emotions and habits, then my guess is that you probably don't take control. Yet it is so easy when you know how.

If you have not experienced clinical hypnotherapy before then I want you to put aside any past perceptions or expectations for just long enough for you to read this short article. You can decide later whether you want to bring back those old beliefs, that is entirely up to you.

By way of an explanation and for the purpose of making this brief I am going to break the mind into two parts, the conscious mind and the unconscious mind.

The conscious mind is where we are right now while reading this, a state of awareness, the other part, the subconscious, lies just below that level of awareness.

Many people relate the conscious mind to the time we are awake each day, it does four things:

Analysis - The part of our mind where we look at problems, analyse them and attempt to find solutions. The part that makes decisions all day long, every day.

Rational - The part that has to know why things happen and why we behave the way we do.

Willpower - The determination that we have to do things.

Short term memory - The things that we need to know on a day-to-day basis like how to respond when someone say 'hi', rather than just stare at them wondering what to say.

The conscious mind is wherever you happen to be pointing it at any given time; it is where your attention is. Have you ever been in a busy cafe with noises all around you and yet you can focus just on what your partner is saying to you? Yet at a nearby table someone throws your name into a sentence and your focus points instantly to someone else's conversation. If you take your conscious awareness and point it inside yourself instead of outside into the world, you begin to become aware of your inner self, your unconscious self.

This is the part of you that we work with in hypnotherapy. Your unconscious mind is incredibly powerful and automates as much of your behaviour as it can so that you do not have to think. For example there was a time in your life when you did not know how to walk and yet now you don't even think about 'how' you just unconsciously do it.

Our mind is an amazing learning centre, we learn behaviours and habits then our unconscious mind automates what we have learnt so that we do these things on auto pilot. We don't have to analyse or rationalise, we don't even have to ignite willpower, we just do it because we cannot question our unconscious mind we can only question things in our conscious mind.

The unconscious mind holds all long-term memory, absolutely everything that we have experienced, relationships, interpretations of and every single influence upon our world. For example, until you read this you are unlikely to recall what gifts you received on your last birthday, who was there and how you felt at the time and yet now that you are thinking about it you can recall. Your unconscious mind is where your emotions and behaviours come from, it knows more about you than you consciously know that you know.

The unconscious mind provides the solutions to many of the analytical questions in our conscious mind based on our past experience. Hypnotherapy is a calm and peaceful experience by which we can step over the analytical, rational conscious mind to access the unconscious mind and make powerful changes, to change your life.

'Life's not always kind," a character observes in ANOTHER YEAR and that shopworn but resonant phrase exactly captures the melancholy, but forgiving, message in the newest film from celebrated director Mike Leigh (Secrets and Lies, Vera Drake, Life Is Sweet). 12 Foods You Don't have to Buy Organic:By The Medical Sanctuary!

There is growing consensus in the scientific community that small doses of pesticides and other chemicals can adversely affect people, especially during vulnerable periods of fetal development and childhood when exposures can have long lasting effects. Because the toxic effects of pesticides are worrisome, not well understood, or in some cases completely unstudied, shoppers are wise to minimize exposure to pesticides whenever possible.

Organic fruits and vegetables are by definition grown without the use of pesticides. But some find the expense of organic foods prohibitive.

The Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit organization that advocates for policies that protect global and individual health, produces the Shoppers' Guide to Pesticides in Produce. It is based on the results of nearly 43,000 pesticide tests.

Of the 43 different fruit and vegetable categories in the Guide to Pesticides, the following twelve foods had the lowest pesticide load when conventionally grown. Consequently, they are the safest conventionally grown crops to consume:

o Broccoli
o Eggplant
o Cabbage
o Banana
o Kiwi
o Asparagus
o Sweet peas (frozen)
o Mango
o Pineapple
o Sweet corn (frozen)
o Avocado
o Onion

The dozen with the highest pesticide loads and which should be avoided unless organic:

o Peaches
o Apples
o Sweet Bell Peppers
o Celery
o Nectarines
o Strawberries
o Cherries
o Lettuce
o Grapes (Imported)
o Pears
o Spinach
o Potatoes

Will Washing and Peeling Help?

Nearly all of the data used to create these lists already considers how people typically wash and prepare produce (for example, apples are washed before testing, bananas are peeled). While washing and rinsing fresh produce may reduce levels of some pesticides, it does not eliminate them. Peeling also reduces exposures, but valuable nutrients often go down the drain with the peel. The best option is to eat a varied diet, wash all produce, and choose organic when possible to reduce exposure to potentially harmful chemicals.

Short and Sweet:Spinach & Lentil Soup!

This is one of my all time favorites & the spinach can easily be substituted for silver beet.

Serves 4

2 tsp olive oil
1 small onion, halved, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tbs good quality tomato paste
5 cups vegetable, veal or chicken stock.
420g (2 cups) red lentils, rinsed
1 bunch spinach, or half a bunch of silver beet, ends trimmed, washed, dried, coarsely chopped
2 tbs fresh lemon juice
ground black pepper & fresh parsley to taste

1. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until soft. Add the garlic and tomato paste and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds or until aromatic.

2. Add the stock and lentils to the pan. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and cook, partially covered, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes or until lentils are very soft.

3. Add spinach to lentil mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes or until cooked.

Laughter is the best medicine!

A woman in a supermarket is following a grandfather and his badly behaved 3 year-old grandson.

It's obvious to her that he has his hands full with the child screaming for sweets in the sweet aisle, biscuits in the biscuit aisle; and for fruit, cereal and pop in the other aisles.

Meanwhile, Granddad is working his way around, saying in a controlled voice, "Easy, William, we won't be long . . . Easy, boy."

Another outburst, and she hears the granddad calmly say, "It's okay, William, just a couple more minutes and we'll be out of here. Hang in there, boy."

At the checkout, the little terror is throwing items out of the cart, and Granddad says again in a controlled voice, "William, William, relax buddy, don't get upset. We'll be home in five minutes; stay cool, William."

Very impressed, the woman goes outside where the grandfather is loading his groceries and the boy into the car.

She said to the elderly gentleman, "It's none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don't know how you did it. That whole time, you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. William is very lucky to have you as his grandpa."

"Thanks," said the grandfather, "but I'm William . .. . The little Terror's name is Kevin."

.Quote of the Month!

"Before you begin a thing remind yourself that difficulties and delays quite impossible to foresee are ahead. You can only see one thing clearly, and that is your goal. Form a mental vision of that and cling to it through thick and thin." Kathleen Norris
