Do Yourself A Favour - Say "No": By Sue Lester Master Practitioner NLP, Hypnosis, Result Coaching!

There is delight when baby's first recognisable words are heard, "Mummummum" and "Daddaddad". There is less delight at the often next clear word, "No!". We then spend a great deal of energy trying to remove that word from our children's vocabulary. We, as babies, then learn that saying no to adults is not allowed. We learn that saying no makes us naughty and unlovable. We can then spend our whole life believing that saying no means we are selfish and uncaring, and that no one will like us. The truth is, saying no can be the best thing we can do for ourselves.

Of course children need boundaries, both to feel secure and to learn socially acceptable behaviour. They need to learn that "No means No", not that "No will eventually turn into Yes" if they persist long enough. However, once out of the 'Terrible Twos', it's time to teach them that sometimes saying no to an adult is very important, and absolutely OK. Teaching them to respect and value their bodies and personal space, and to trust their gut instinct about what is right and wrong, will help protect them against sexual abuse, and against bullying. Sometimes a strong "No" is absolutely the right thing to do.

This self respect, and ability to say No, and mean it, will stand them in good stead through their teenage years when there can be strong peer (& adult) pressure for sex, binge drinking and drugs. Each time we take a considered stand, and say No, and mean it, our self-confidence improves, as does our ability to make choices and have control over our lives. The trick for parents is to step back and consider their teenager's perspective, and accept that, sometimes, a No is an appropriate response.

So if you are finding yourself stretched to the limit, stressed, always catching colds, and feeling like there aren't enough hours in the day, where do you need to start saying "No"? Are you on call 24/7 for some friends or family who drain you emotionally and/or physically? Could your teenagers use public transport or car pool with other parents? Do you work outside the home and still do all the housework, washing, cooking etc? Does your partner insist you are always with him/her? Do you always say yes at work, even when you know you can't give your very best to even more tasks? Are you on every committee you've been asked to join? Do you spend more time with others than your core family?

No one respects a doormat, not even you. Some people find it easier to lean on others (you!), rather than learn to stand on their own two feet, and take responsibility for their choices. Sometimes you've hidden your stress so well people simply have no idea they are handing you the straw that breaks the camel's back. It's not about being selfish, it's about self-care, self-respect and keeping yourself well and strong enough so you can be there 100% in time of real need.

Of course, those who are used to you always saying yes will be baffled, perhaps even angry, at a pleasant firm no, so that's when it's important keep your boundaries as set. If they persist and you eventually give in, then, like toddlers, they will learn that "No" just means "Keep asking."

If you'd like to use some quick and lasting NLP processes to empower yourself so it feels comfortable to say no, and to calmly keep your boundaries firm, call me to book yourself a time to change. Telephone Sue Lester 0428 128679. Telephone/Skype appointments are also available Australia-wide.

More Energy, Less Stress : with Q- Link!

Medical Professionals worldwide report that the number one health challenge facing modern civilization today is STRESS . An estimated 75% to 90% of all visits to Health Care Professionals are for stress-related symptoms or complaints.

Scientific studies* have shown that Q-Link Pendants with sympathetic resonance technology (SRT3) inside is a solution. Q-Link Pendants are a wearable technology that strengthens the body's natural energy system increasing your ability to cope with stress.

Q-Link improves your performance at home, in the office or on the sporting arena and enhances your overall well-being. Several world-class athletes report that the QLink improves their energy, mental focus and endurance, giving them a significant edge over their competition.

The most frequently asked question we receive in regard to the Q-Link is how is it that something that looks so innocuous can create such significant results? The answer lies at the heart of every Q-Link- a scientific breakthrough called Sympathetic Resonance Technology (SRT), developed through many years of research in partial collaboration with scientists at Stanford University and the University of Calfornia, Irvine, many health care professionals and the pioneering research team at Q-Link.

The Q-Link Pendant with SRT3consists of three components: a resonating cell, a tuning board and an amplifying coil. The main component, the resonating cell, works as a multi-frequency crystalline oscillator. The tuning board protects the integrity of the resonating cell and helps it function in the optimal harmonic frequency range of the human biofield. The amplifying coil strengthens and increases the amplitude of the intrinsic resonant frequencies of the body.

This entire process improves the dynamic stability of the biofield-which researchers believe helps to balance all of the body's complex electrochemical processes essential to health and wellness. An electrical engineering description of how the Q-Link works is: "Passive sympathetically resonating induction feedback loop for the body." More simply put-the Q-Link works as a highly sophisticated series of "tuning forks" sympathetically reinforcing another series of "tuning forks" of the same intrinsic frequency range-the primary harmonics of the human biofield.

The result is that communication between the trillions of cells happens more efficiently, increasing cellular resistance to the effects of all forms of stress-including EMF-leaving the user feeling noticeably less fatigued, more energized and resilient. In the battle to find a simple and affordable solution to the effects of ever-increasing stress and fatigue from rapidly increasing electropollution, the evidence of research and unsolicited testimonials from literally thousands of consumers, indicates that the Q-Link may very well be the EMF breakthrough many are looking for.

Are You Liberated or Limited by Your 'Self Identity': By Roslyn Loxton - Principal Coach at Great Thinking!

Are you liberated or limited by your 'self identity'?

All that we are and, all that we have, physically and emotional, are a result of our self identity.

So what is your identity, in your thinking?

If you could actually stand in someone else's shoes, to hear what they hear, see what they see, and feel what they feel, you would honestly wonder what planet they live on, and be totally blown away by how different their "reality" is from yours. You'd also never, in a million years, be quick to judge again.

Your identity is what you believe about yourself, usually subconsciously, with unawareness. Very often a good portion of how we identify with ourselves has been formed from when we were children and reinforced through our teenage years. As adults we are basically limited or liberated by what we believe our identity to be. What we believe our potential to be. What we believe we are good enough for or worthy of. There is a massive disparity from one person to the next with regard to their personal limits or liberations in line with our identities.

Becoming profoundly and deeply aware of how you identify yourself is extremely empowering. It allows us the opportunity to re arrange our self identity to create freedom from the things that otherwise would limit us unnecessarily.

To get some indication of what your self identity is, observe your life.

The people you have in your life.
The material objects you surround yourself with.
The food you eat.
The clothes you wear.
The language you use and things you take interest in.
The money you do or don't have.
Your health.
Your habits or addictions
Your goals and aspirations.

As an exercise, imagine if you could pick and choose anything you wanted to have in your life with no limits, what would those things be? Make a list.

When you have a list, compare it to what you do have in your life and notice where the differences are.

Try to imagine what kind of identity you would need to have in order to manifest those things you imagined into your life. Is that identity different to the one you currently associate yourself with? You have the ability to choose.

It has been a burning goal within Roslyn for several years to assist people in making good decisions, to recognise their real potential and think beyond average. It was like a penny dropping for Roslyn when she discovered there was a recognised profession dedicated specifically to this type thinking. It is Life Coaching.

PCOS - A New Epidemic Causing Infertility & More: by Mass Attack!

Today, estimates are that approximately 1 in 8, or half a million, Australian women of child bearing age suffer from Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which puts it well on the road to qualifying it as an epidemic.

It has been recognized as one of the leading causes of infertility & with its influences on cardiovascular health, it also contributes to one of the largest causes of death within Australia. Unfortunately there is a lack of information and education about PCOS, making it difficult & frustrating to diagnose correctly. Unrecognized and untreated, PCOS can lead to diabetes, high cholesterol and an increase in the risk of endometrial cancer. In order to successfully prevent these conditions, it is essential to diagnose and treat PCOS as early as possible.

What Is PCOS?

PCOS refers to multiple cysts on the ovaries and a host of other problems that go along with them, including lack of ovulation and menstrual abnormalities, facial hair, male pattern baldness, acne, and obesity. Women suffering from this condition may also have varying degrees of insulin resistance and an increased incidence of Type II diabetes, high cholesterol & elevated androgen levels.

What are the symptoms of PCOS?

You may:

o Stop ovulating, or it becomes infrequent

o Have trouble falling pregnant

o Experience excess hair on the face and body

o Suffer from acne

o Experience high blood pressure

o Suffer from high cholesterol

o Develop elevated insulin levels, or insulin resistance

o Gain weight steadily for no real reason

o Suffer mood changes 7 thinning hair

o And last but not least: your periods stop, become irregular or become painful

Why does it occur?

PCOS occurs when a woman doesn't ovulate, which causes a disruption in the normal, cyclical interrelationship among her hormones, brain and ovaries.

The exact cause of PCOS is unknown. In the past, it was thought that PCOS was caused entirely by excess production of androgen. More recent research has shown that Metabolic Syndrome associated with insulin resistance and high levels of insulin play key roles in PCOS.

Metabolic Syndrome may be the condition which best illustrates the long-term effects of our Western lifestyle habits. The usual suspects are responsible: high calorie, high carbohydrate diets, lack of exercise, hormonal imbalances and chronic stress are a few of the major causes of metabolic dysfunction. Although genetic and environmental factors contribute to metabolic syndrome, obesity and physical in- activity are the most important.

The problem is, often women with PCOS try hard to lose the weight only to find that they either can't lose it - or it rebounds once they complete their diet.

Some possible causes of PCOS

o High consumption of processed foods o High saturated fat intake o Genetics o Environmental pollutants o Lifestyle Factors including stress, lack of exercise, and poor nutrition. o Birth control pills & contraceptive medications

The Diet Connection to PCOS

By far the biggest lifestyle contributor to PCOS is poor diet. Research supports that a high consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates cause an unhealthy rise in insulin levels. Insulin stimulates androgen receptors on the outside of the ovary, causing the typical PCOS symptoms of excess hair (on the face, arms, legs), thin hair (on the head), and acne. Eventually this type of diet will cause obesity, which will cause insulin resistance (the inability of the cells to take in insulin) which will aggravate the PCOS even more.

So how does Insulin affect my PCOS?

Insulin resistance and excessive insulin production appears to cause the overproduction of androgens associated with PCOS.

Insulin transports sugar (in the form of glucose) out of the blood and into muscle, fat, and liver cells, where it is converted into energy or stored as fat. Women with PCOS produce excess insulin, because their cells are "resistant" to insulin. The body compensates by producing more insulin. Resistance means that the process of removing sugar from the blood and into the cells is defective and the cells do not respond to insulin. The pancreas senses high levels of glucose and continues secreting insulin to remove sugar from the blood and into the cells.

High levels of insulin can predispose a woman, directly or indirectly, to polycystic ovaries, and an increased risk of heart disease.

Insulin resistance appears to lead to high levels of androgens, although what causes the effect is unknown. Increased androgen levels result in menstrual irregularities and other symptoms typical of PCOS. However more serious complications or related conditions may also develop with PCOS.

When you look at the whole picture of PCOS, you can understand why the hormone-blocking drugs such as the birth control pill & insulin-lowering drugs, don't work for very long. These approaches don't address the underlying cause of the problem, they only suppress symptoms.

How does PCOS interfere with fertility?

High levels of insulin can pose considerable risk to pregnancy. Data from New Zealand indicates that miscarriage in women with type 2 diabetes was triple that in those without diabetes.

The main reason for this is that weight gain associated with PCOS, interferes with ovulation. To simplify a very technical process, basically the more overweight you are, the more fat cells you have. This means you have a steady over supply of oestrogen. This blunts the peaks and valleys of the ovary's function, which ultimately interferes with ovulation and can cause infertility. What is the best treatment for PCOS?

Doctors tend to prescribe two treatments, both of which affect symptoms only, and neither of which is particularly successful. One treatment is direct manipulation of reproductive hormones using birth control pills, androgens, androgen blockers & synthetic estrogens. The other is prescribing oral drugs for Type II diabetes, which reduce insulin resistance.

Losing weight is one of the best treatments for PCOS, yet it is one of the hardest treatments to achieve. Whether obesity is a cause of PCOS or obesity is a result of PCOS is unclear. PCOS is not "cured" by weight reduction, but the symptoms of PCOS may be lessened by weight loss, or increased by weight gain.

One of the most important things to remember is that we are all different - what foods to eat vary according to what your individual hormonal influences are. The best approach is to adopt a lifestyle system that improves hormonal balance resulting in metabolic health, allowing you to lose fat & keep it off.

It is important for you to:

o Identify hormonal imbalances

o Implement a diet that reflects your hormonal needs

o Exercise regularly o Implement nutritional & herbal support

Chromium is an important mineral if you have PCOS as a deficiency of chromium can lead to insulin resistance, which is a key problem in the case of PCOS.

Next are the B vitamins. These are important in helping to correct the symptoms of PCOS. They are particularly useful for controlling weight, and here's why: Vitamin B2 helps to turn fat, sugar and protein into energy. B3 helps to keep the levels in balance. Vitamin B5 helps to control fat metabolism. B6 is important for maintaining hormone balance and, together with B2 and B3, is necessary for normal thyroid hormone production.

Zinc Unfortunately, there is very little natural zinc found in our food due to over farming. Furthermore, food refining & processing strips out what little might be remaining. So no matter how good your diet, you may not be getting anywhere near the levels you need. To combat this: you can eat whole organic food, which has higher zinc levels or you can add a zinc supplement to your diet. But why is it so important?

Zinc is an important mineral for appetite control and a deficiency can cause a loss of taste and smell, creating a need for stronger-tasting foods, including those that are saltier, sugary and/or spicier often more fattening. Zinc is also necessary for the correct action of many hormones, including insulin, so it is extremely important in balancing blood sugar.

Magnesium levels have been found to be low in people with diabetes and there is a strong link between magnesium deficiency and insulin resistance. It is, therefore, an important mineral to include if you are suffering from PCOS.

Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil can switch on the enzymes specifically involved in the oxidizing, or burning of fat. To switch on these pathways, they require a driver (for example exercise), to increase the metabolic rate in order to lower body fat.

Co-Enzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like substance that is contained in nearly every cell of your body. It is important for energy production and normal carbohydrate metabolism. Co-Q10 has also been proved useful in controlling blood sugar levels.

Next we will look at some Herbs that are known for helping the symptoms of PCOS.

Herbs are extremely useful in the treatment of PCOS. Making changes and adding supplements to your diet will help to control weight and balance blood sugar, while herbs go a step further, targeting any problems involving hormone balance.
Herbs can also be very beneficial in encouraging the function of your liver, in order to make sure that it is metabolizing the hormones efficiently and then eliminating them.

Some of the ones to look for are Agnus castus, Milk Thistle, Evening Primrose, Red clover blossoms, & Raspberry. These are just a few of the many available herbs used to treat PCOS. Always check with your herbalist and Dr to avoid any complications. Just because herbs are natural doesn't mean they don't have dangers, take the recommended dose and do your research. Several herbs can not be taken with fertility medicines check with your DR.

If you have PCOS you can enhance your fertility and your chances of having a healthy baby by losing weight. This is why weight reduction should be the first line of treatment for overweight PCOS suffers trying to conceive. This needs a multidisciplinary approach to weight management that fosters lifestyle change through proper diet, exercise, behaviour modification and stress reduction.

The tragedy of course: is that this is easy to advise, but very hard to do. No one wants to be overweight and losing weight can be really hard to accomplish if you have PCOS. But with the right help, in most cases it can be achieved.

Laughter is the best medicine!

A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it and stuck it in the door. When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, "Genesis 3:10." Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for I was naked."
